g320 member Peter Bedford Housing Association has just announced its expansion into the borough of Newham after receiving a social investment loan of £2.05 million from Social and Sustainable Capital (SASC).
The SASC fund will allow Peter Bedford HA to purchase 12 one-bedroom flats in Newham to house single adults who are suffering hardship such as homelessness, mental ill health and substance abuse. It will also allow PBHA to attract funding from Greater London Authority’s Rough Sleeping Accommodation Programme to support the tenants in sustaining their tenancies and integrating back into the local community. The properties are now under refurbishment and set to be let over the summer.
Clare Norton, CEO, Peter Bedford Housing Association said: “We are delighted to be working together with SASC and the GLA to house more people in Newham who so urgently need a secure home. The homes will give people a solid base to continue their recovery journey, to forge their lives away from homelessness, and build their stake in society”.
